An email about the Beaufort Hunt after the banNo one seems to care to enforce this legislation. It's a completely different ballgame. I don't pretend to understand why.
The first meet of the Beaufort Hunt after the ban (which took place at Worcester Lodge) was a magnificent event. Some silly political speeches it's true, but no ill feeling, no violence and a huge turn-out. About 260 on horseback and 1,500 (probably more) on foot. 30 journalists on the balcony, but no news because no fights. (Maybe I'm not as bad at diplomacy as I think.)
The Beaufort is now officially a Trail Hunt. Everything is exactly the same, except the kill. Only one farmer was heard to turn back saying it's not worth doing.
I hope you will come to a meet when you are in England. Worcester Lodge was built as a grandstand for events like this. It is a joy. The hounds run free, fraternising with local dogs and eating people's sandwiches. A good time is had by ALL and it is completely open (and free) to everyone. All you have to do is turn up.
