2.9 General issues

2.9.1 Compensation

Compensation is payable in accordance with the Animal Health Act 1981 (or

the Disease of Animal (NI) Order 1981) for animals destroyed for the purpose

of disease control, including animals destroyed for diagnosis.

Compensation would not be payable in the following circumstances:

Imported infected animals slaughtered on a discretionary basis (under

Import Regulations) as a disease risk, and the remaining herd monitored.

Seriously affected animals destroyed for welfare reasons by decision of

the owner, with or without advice of a veterinary surgeon.
