Conservatives launch new Rural Action Group
The Conservative Party today announced the launch of the Conservative Rural Action Group (CRAG). The organisation seeks to link together all issues relating to the countryside and rural life and to become a significant campaigning force, both within and beyond the Conservative Party, on local as well as national issues.
The Shadow Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Secretary, Peter Ainsworth MP, said:
The Conservative Rural Action Group will be an inclusive, pro-active organisation that will campaign on issues of importance to rural communities across the country.
This organisation offers an opportunity to focus efforts in the countryside, to the benefit of everyone who lives and works in rural areas.
At a time when the threat to rural life has never been greater, our task is to recover the countryside that matters so much to all of us. CRAG will offer those people who want to protect and support rural Britain with the platform to make a real difference.
