As we see around the country, it appears your worst enemy in many cases are your neighbours; farmers in Britain do not seem to be able to work together as the French farmers do,
WHY ? Please someone explain to me WHY ?

The reason my humour earlier was my genuine pleasure that Gary had returned
to us, but in reality I am very sad. Sad because I know that almost
certainly that the farm that was culled for FMD, and that caused the D
notice to be placed on us all, was not infected. The pressure that was then
put on all the farmers was pure blackmail. The letters sent to them would be
illegal if sent by a commercial firm to anyone, the `phone calls would have
been harassment. Of course, if a Government Department does it under the
direct instructions of our Illustrious Prime Minister, it becomes legal.
Unfortunately, the ewes and lambs on our land were not ours, if they had
been they would have still been here. I would have been receiving a lot of
flack from some of the local farmers, as my friend with his few sheep is.
The so called Voluntary Depopulation Scheme, was not `voluntary' any more
than the local thug forcing you to sell your car to him for a Fiver, would
be. But of course the MAFFia thugs had a dubious power to force you to
`co-operate, things would get unpleasant if you didn't.

It is interesting to see how it was all managed, first to go was a
Agricultural Lecturer, who would no doubt have contacts with MAFF, the next
one was a NFU Honorary Official, bit by bit individual farmers were picked
off. Our neighbour and friend was the last in our part of the Parish, and he
and his son would have almost certainly resisted, but they were the last and
could not take the pressure without support. As we see around the country,
it appears your worst enemy in many cases is your neighbours, farmers in
Britain do not seem to be able to work together as the French farmers do,
WHY ? Please someone explain to me WHY ?

I haven't seen my neighbour for some weeks, he is trying to keep up his
bio-security, so we have kept away, just talking on the 'phone and waving
when we pass his fields. Today, he turned up at our house to bring us a
present for our Anniversary. We saw the pickup stop in front of the house,
but we did not recognise the man that got out. It was our neighbour, he has
aged twenty years, looks old and tired, we have known him for 31 years, we
help each other out, we remember his marriage, his son and our son went to
school together. Our son regularly helps them on the farm, his daughter
comes to use our PC. Our lives are shared, and we DID NOT RECOGNISE him. Was
the stupid disease, which could be managed if the Country wished, worth all
this misery, to destroy so many people. We who only had some one else's
flock on our land, cannot stop talking about it, we are so unhappy and we
are not farmers. I really do not know what the answer is, and from someone
who has spent his life finding answers to problems, that is a sad admission.

Please Beam me up Scottie, I really wish I was an alien from another
Universe, Ron.
